Torta Tatin de mazá / Apple Tarte Tatin

Torta tatin de mazá

Tarte Tatin

Preparación paso a paso:

2. Cortamos as mazás en anacos ben gordiños.

Tarte Tatin

Apple Tarte Tatin

Tarte Tatin

Today’s recipe is an upside-down apple pie. And where does this name come from? Well, the story started in a hotel in France, where the Tatin sisters were preparing an apple pie. One of them, put the appples in the mould without having put the pastry first, so not to start all over again, she just put the pastry on top. And there it goes! The thing is that this Tarte is really tasty and if you like apples, you’ll die for it. Let’s go!

Ingredients:

– 85 gr powdered sugar
– 45 gr butter
– 4 golden apples (or whatever you like the most)seedless and peeled
– 1 disk shortcrust pastry

**The amount of sugar may vary, it’ll depend on how sweet you feel 😉

Step by step preparation:

1. Prepare the caramel with the powdered sugar. When ready, add 1/2 the butter and mix until well integrated.

2. Cut the apples into quite big wedges.

3. Pour the caramel over the mould and put the apple wedges on top.

Tarte Tatin

4. Spread the other 1/2 butter and some powdered sugar on top of the apples.

Tarte Tatin

5. Put the pastry over the apples and make roll the edges a bit.

Tarte Tatin

6. Bake for 1/2 an hour at 180ºC or until golden brown on top.

Tarte Tatin

7. Now we just have to turn it over, very carefully not to get burnt. We have to do it while hot to stop the caramel from getting hard in the mould. And that’s it!

Tarte Tatin

You see this recipe has no complicated steps at all, and the flavour is…mmm…yummy! As the apple wedges are bigger than those we use in the regular apple pie, the apple flavour is more intense and delicious. With these quick and easy steps, you’ll be able to prepare this classic dessert you can find in almost every menu all around the world 🙂
