Peras ao viño / Red wine poached pears

Peras ao viño

IMG_1460

Unha lambonada rápida, sinxela e moi sabrosa!

Moi recomendable.

Preparación paso a paso:

7. Cando estea listo, sacámolo do lume e botámosllo ás peras por riba. Preparádevos para relamer os dedos!

A very easy, quick and delicious recipe! I’ve never tried this before, and the truth is that it is really simple, but what surprised me the most was that it is incredibly tasty! Let’s do it!

Ingredients:

IMG_1451

– 5 pears
– 300 ml red wine*
– 5 tablespoons sugar (1 per pear)

*This time, I used Crego e Monaguillo, elaborated with Mencía, Arauxa and Merenzao.
The second time I did it, I used a Cividade Amandi, from the denomination of origin Ribeira Sacra, elaborated with Mencía e Brancellao, by Adegas Verao, the wine of a good friend. Highly recommended.

Step by step preparation:

1. Cut the down part of the pears so they can stand on the pan.

2. Peel them leaving the stem. Thus, we will take them by the stem when hot.

3. Put them inside the pan, and add the sugar and the wine. Heat all this until it boils, and then, let it cook over a low heat for approximately half an hour.

4. From time to time you can wet the pears with the wine using a spoon. The pears will be ready when you can easily insert a toothpick till the very center of the pear.

5. When they’re ready, take them out of the pan and keep them for later.

6. With the rest of the wine, we will make a syrup by boiling the wine for some more minutes, until it gets a caramel texture.

7. When it’s done, pour it over the pears, and get ready to enjoy this piece of heaven!
